….that there is a house sitting on a plot of land in the middle of Narragansett Bay? That’s right! It has been there since 1906 and was once the summer cottage of J.S Lovering Wharton. For many years, visitors have asked about the “house on the rocks” also known as “Clingstone” on Dumpling Island.
Although, the property is a private residence and closed to the public. You may view it via the numerous harbor tours offered in Newport Harbor.
In this generation of “Green Living” this house stands alone as a perfect example of how it should be done. There is a wind turbine located on the roof which generates electricity for the house, rainwater is collected and heated by solar panels and there is a composting toilet system.
